I realize I am a planner. I can't do things on the fly. Last night, I sat looking at a canvas for close to two hours. I started a new painting but didn't know where to take it. If I don't plan out what I want to do, I get stuck. I get nervous. I don't want to do something that I might regret.
I am itchin' to get back to painting. For the past several nights, I have been busy with teacher work and Dad stuff which means that I haven't painted in days...actually maybe over a week. YIKES!! Needless to say, I have a really big itch that needs scratching.
On Saturday night we had my Dad over for his post-birthday / pre-Father's Day dinner. My Mom is in England, so it was just us and my Dad. Sean made a great dinner and then we blew bubbles...yes bubbles...BIG ones.
Then yesterday, I made pancakes for Father's Day breakfast. This may not seem like a big deal, perhaps, but I don't usually do the food making thing...I think they call it cooking?? I think Sean was a bit surprised. My in-laws took the girls for the afternoon and then Sean and I met them there for a Father's Day dinner with my FIL & MIL.
MY ART: Tonight, let the scratching begin. My hope is to finish the painting that has been sitting on my easel for over a week now and perhaps begin a new one. I have two canvases prepped and ready to go, so there's nothing stopping me...except, maybe, time & energy & creativity &...
Better get at it. Ciao!
Today, I gave dress shopping another shot. And I am feeling better about myself. I found a cute little summer dress from Tommy Hilfiger, that fit nicely. And it was on SALE. And it was a size SMALL!! Don't get me wrong, I am not delusional. I didn't wake up this morning with a six-pack and buns of steel. But it's nothing a tan and Spanx can't handle. The dress is actually supposed to be a beach cover-up, but I think I just might wear it elsewhere.
I was totally bummed yesterday. Mainly because of my big bum...and thunder thighs. For the past 27 days I have been Shredding. And for 4 months before that I was running 2 to 3 days a week. I really want to get in shape. Summer is coming. I have a reunion in a few weeks. And I just want to finally get into shape after slacking off for the past 6 years since I first became pregnant. I really thought I was making progress. I haven't missed a single Shredding day and I only have 2 days left. So I really should have a six-pack and a totally Shredded bod. Then I did something I shouldn't have done. I went dress shopping. And I saw something so scary, so depressing, I'm not sure how to deal with it. I saw the same, old body I've been seeing for 6 years -- the muffin top, a wide load and, worst of all, cellulite. Arrgghhh!!!!
Busy weekend...some work, some play. I don't have time to do a full post tonight because I have more work to do, but I will definitely post tomorrow night.
I don't like posting without some sort of photo or graphics. So here is a photo to brighten up this post.
Yesterday, after work I went over to my friend's house for a visit without the girls. It was nice to talk without kids screaming all around us. We haven't done that in a long time. Her little one year old was there, but there wasn't any screaming from him. He was all smiles the whole time. To top of the nice visit, she brought out her home-made, best I've ever tasted, chocolate chip cookies. Mmmm-mmm-good.
Meanwhile, the girls were at my mom's house setting up a lemonade stand. Their cousin Braeden was there too, and people actually stopped their cars and bought lemonade from a 5, 4, & 3 year old. They were charging only 5 cents a glass?!? When I was that age, I charged 25 cents. Regardless, they made $10.44 between the 3 of them. They had a great time.
I would love to post more often, but our internet connection is a joke. We only get it about 1/3 of the time. So after 45 minutes talking to Telus, it was finally fixed. YAY!!...for all of about 2 hours and then right back to no connection. ARGGGHH!!!
MY ART: I've got two paintings on deck at the moment. I should be finished at least one of them in the next couple of days, I hope. One is quite different from my recent paintings. Bold colours. I really like it, so far. I've been using the palette knife on these ones. I'll let you know how they turn out, soon.
I'm pretty busy over the next couple of days, but I'll do my best to post. Thanks for visiting.
I love having a productive weekend, especially when my house is clean at the end of it.
In this post, I mentioned that I was going to try to get to more galleries. Well the very next day I went downtown to pick up some art supplies. When I realized the art store wasn't open yet, I decided to do some window shopping. It was a pleasant surprise to see the West End Gallery with doors wide open [it was a very hot day], welcoming me in. I wasn't expecting to visit a gallery that day, but there it was. They were showing several paintings from various artists, but I really liked some of the glass art that was on display.
Well, I am now half way through my 30 Day Shred. And I have graduated to Level 2. YAY!! I have to say I am really liking this work out. I found it a bit tiring to do it everyday, in the beginning, but now it is just part of my daily routine. It is only 20 minutes/day. Very doable. I've lost about 2 lb, but more importantly, I am seeing a change in my body shape. Firming, tightening, all that good stuff and it's only been 2 weeks. I'll let you know how it goes over the next 2 weeks. Will I be ready for a bikini? Okay, let's not be ridiculous.
BUGS: I am happy to report, after an evening on the deck without bug spray, I have no additional mosquito bites. I was, however, covered up like an
eskimo inuit person. I really hate bug spray. It's sticky, it smells, and you just feel dirty with it on. So I try to avoid it.
I love Twilight!!! But I don't like those blood sucking creatures. No...I'm not talking about vampires and the teen chick best selling books...I'm talking about my deck the other night and some nasty mosquitoes. When I wrote my last post, I sat out on the deck in capri pants and no bug dope. I should know better. I was eaten alive. I woke up with at least 9 bites on my legs and 1 on each butt cheek...go figure. I won't do that again. Tonight, long pants and socks.
