The other day I mentioned that my sister, Pam, and I had been invited to a private art show by local Victoria artist Laura Harris. Well, today was the day. Laura and two other artists, Penelope Scott-McCaig and Christopher Pilling, held a private art show called the Yard Work Collective to show their newest creations. It was held in Penelope's beautiful garden. Paintings were hung from tree branches backdropped by a duck pond (the backyard was huge). The paintings and woodwork were absolutely stunning in this gorgeous setting. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. Not too warm in the sun and not too cool in the shade...perfect! There were loads of people...family, friends, and clients of the artists. I am not sure where I fit into that group. Sister of a client/friend??? Either way, I was thrilled to have been invited. I had fun and we got to talk to Laura for a bit. They were also silent auctioning a "collective" painting and donating the money to charity. I bid, but no such luck. Oh well.
MY ART: I love going on studio tours, to galleries, and to art shows. I get really inspired to paint. I have been slacking lately and I need to get back to it. Tomorrow is the day. I am going to paint.
Until then everyone, have a spectacular weekend.
Oh yeah, if you haven't heard about Avon's Paint it PINK campaign, go here. There are still 4 days left to VOTE. Remember to VOTE everyday until the end of September and Avon will donate $2 to beat the hell out of breast cancer, for you. Isn't that nice of them.
