Summer is almost half over and each year at this time I brace myself for the whirlwind that is August. I find the first few weeks of July plod along and when August hits...whoosh...it's over. So I prefer to do our little get aways in July and have August to just rest. Having said that, it rarely happens that way.
Our first get away of the summer happened last week. We went to Seattle for 4 days. We had a City Pass which gave us access to 6 attractions: Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle Aquarium, Space Needle, Argosy Cruises, EMP, and Pacific Science Centre. We also shopped at the outlet stores and went on the new Seattle Great Wheel (ferris wheel). Needless to say, we packed in a lot in those four days. Although I enjoyed it all, my favourite thing was going the Chihuly Garden and Glass museum. It was breathtaking. If you haven't heard of him, Dale Chihuly is a glass artist from Seattle. And I desperately want one of his pieces (hint, hint). Unfortunately, I don't have an extra $8000 lying around.

The end of July also brings the end of my solo show at the Saanich Hall. One week left. I will be taking it down on July 30, so if you haven't had a chance to drop by, you still have a few days. And I am happy to say that I have sold a couple of the paintings that are in this exhibit. Looking forward to meeting the collector next week.
Enjoy the last week of July.
