It is hard to believe the seasons have changed. We had a busy but exciting summer and it has ended on a high note. Summer found us traveling down to Seattle, camping on Thetis Island, and visiting friends in Kamloops. When we weren't out-of-town, we were getting ready for various art shows and fairs.
The girls had a very successful summer submitting art work and baking and writing creations. Macy & Emmy both submitted paintings to the Opus Kids' Art Show. Macy won the Peoples' Choice Award. And to top it off someone also bought her painting. She was pretty excited.
At the end of August was the Saanich Fair. The girls submitted yeast breads, sweet loafs, paintings, photos, drawings, scultpures, weavings, stories, and even onions and cornstalks. All tolled Emmy won several 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place ribbons but she was most thrilled to win a 1st place ribbon and a Best in Class rosette for her yeast bread. Macy won 2nd place in that category along with a rosette for her sculpture of a polar bear and a 2nd place for her painting.
I spent the last few weeks of the summer finishing paintings to submit to the Sidney Fine Art Show. I never expected to have any paintings accepted but found out just yesterday that I have all three of my paintings accepted into this year's show. I am beyond excited as this is most prestigious juried show on the island and possibly the province.
